Inhabitants of Hormuz Island watching the sea, Persian Gulf, Hormozgan Province, Southern Iran - stock photo

This image was taken in Hormuz Island, an Iranian island in the Persian Gulf, Hormozgan Province, Southern Iran, in January 2016. Hormuz Island is located in the Strait of Hormuz, about 8 kilometres off the Iranian coast. It is possible to reach the island by passenger boat from Bandar Abbas and from Qeshm Island. There is only one town in the Island. The island is arid (the climate is very hot in summer), covered by sedimentary rock and layers of volcanic material. There are many virgin beaches and the mountains are amazingly colourful.
