Bio:
The Wiyos are no longer the street busking acoustic old-timey Brooklyn band they began as in 2002. Since their inaugural tour to New Orleans they have been on a constant path of evolution. Much like the crime driven street gang of New York they take their name from (The Whyos, circa 1870's), The Wiyos have ceaselessly metamorphosed their trade. Their Vaudeville-like performances reached its zenith in 2009 when they were featured in the BBC television documentary, “Folk America – Hollerers, Stompers and Old-Time Ramblers”. Later their modern interpretations of iconic blues artists like Blind Willie McTell led them to be hand picked by Bob Dylan for his 28-date summer tour with Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp. Today Twist emerges with the band plugged in and the music turned up. They are an unruly, eclectic bunch and their music has something to say. This is not fluffy "you done me wrong" stuff. This is a mature band with concepts and ideas.
