Australia - Floods - Taking refuge in Town Hall
An elderly couple rest in the Warracknabeal Town Hall on one of the air beds provided by the Australian Red Cross for people whose homes were at risk from flooding. The 'once in 200 years' flood in this small town was averted by a locals who hastily built a six kilometre earth levee and saved the town from disaster. This flooding was a vast lake of water which moved slowly through some rural parts of Victoria. This flood caused an immense amount of damage to farmland and flooded some parts of rural towns, but its impact was not as devastating as the Queensland floods earlier that month. | Location: Warracknabeal, Victoria, Australia.
