UNITED STATES - OCTOBER 06: Daily News pages 22 & 23 dated Oct. 6, 1941, Headlines: YANKS TRAIL; LAST YANK FANS; YANKS WIN, It's the ninth inning of the fourth World Series game at Ebbets Field. The Dodgers are leading 4-3, two Yanks have been retired, and relief pitcher Hugh Casey, with the count of three balls and two strikes on Tommy Henrich, has just made the Yankee outfielder swing and miss for the strikeout that should have ended the game. But, even as Umpire Goetz waves Tom out, the ball bounds off the mitt of Mickey Owen toward the stands. Mickey tears off his mask and races after the elusive horsehide and Tommy, spurred on by Coach Earle Combes sprints madly for first. Casey, himself, starts off the mound to render Mickey his assistance. Henrich made first safely...then came the blitz: DiMaggio singled, Keller doubled, Dickey walked and Gordon doubled, and when the smoke had cleared away, the Yanks had four runs and the ball game, 7-4.
