De-compression maternity suit, Jane Sparkes, 22, in the de-compression maternity suit during treatment. Jane Sparkes gets her first taste of the birth suit. Jane gave up her job as a nurse when she became pregnant six months ago. She is expecting her first baby. Jane's reaction to the suit: 'It felt marvellous'. This experimental suit is still in the pioneer stage. It was put together by engineer Neil Evans using a domestic vacuum cleaner, cycle wheel runs, dress zips, elastic trouser supports and a length of plastic. The suit lifts pressure off the womb.
