Ginette Martenot Playing Ondes-Martenot

(Original Caption) French Inventor Introduces New Musical Instrument. Boston, Mass.: An innovation in musical instruments, the "Ondes Martenot" is introduced here by the inventor, Maurice Martenot, of France, and her sister Ginette Martenot, at the keyboard. Boston Symphony audiences will soon here it for the first time in America. The electrical instrument is equipped with tubes, similar to a radio, a keyboard and sounding board. Martenot says his brain child offers the player an unprecedented opportunity for tone colors and an articulated musical performance. Two radio currents of different frequencies are used through a loud speaker and are produced over a range of five octaves on the keyboard, with volume control.
