Severe Wet Weather Hits East Coast
NEWCASTLE, AUSTRALIA - JANUARY 15: Lightning seen as a shelf cloud rolls across Newcastle ahead of a storm that brought wild winds and rain to the region on January 15, 2025 in Newcastle, Australia. The Bureau of Meteorology had warned that the storm was likely to produce damaging winds. A 120 km/h wind gust was recorded at Williamtown near Newcastle Airport at 9:22pm. The storms affected a large part of south-eastern New South Wales, caused by an unstable airmass combining with an upper trough. ABC News reported a man died after a tree fell on his car at Cowra, in central west NSW, and thousands of people were without power. (Photo by Roni Bintang/Getty Images)
