Northern Ireland First Minister Peter Robinson Resigns Over Stormont Crisis

Northern Ireland First Minister Peter Robinson has resigned along with all but one of the DUP ministers amid the deepening political crisis at Stormont, which erupted in the province following the murder of former IRA member Kevin McGuigan Sr last month. The Police Service of Northern Ireland stated that they believed there was IRA involvement in the killing of one of its former members. The Democratic Unionist Party had said that if the Northern Ireland Executive government is not adjourned or suspended until a thorough investigation into any IRA involvement has been concluded that their ministers will stand down within 24 hours.
