It took time for the brilliance of the local wunderkind's "Dirty Mind" (1980) and "Controversy" ('81) to shine through. So I've spent a month with his latest double-disk offering, and I've discovered that it works on one level and, predictably, befuddles on another. The one-man recording band has made a rapturous dance record. Eleven elongated tunes, stretched over four sides, will keep your body moving for more than an hour. You'd be hard-pressed to find another disk on the market these days that could keep your body and feet in ecstatic pleasure for that length of time.
