Bloodhound Car Arrives For Test Run At Newquay Airport
NEWQUAY, ENGLAND - SEPTEMBER 25: The Bloodhound Supersonic Car is unloaded at its new home in a hanger at Cornwall Airport near Newquay on September 25, 2017 in Cornwall, England. The Bloodhound team relocated today from Bristol to Newquay to begin unpacking ahead of a month of trials to test the car's steering, brakes, suspension, data systems, as well as the EJ200 jet engine, sourced from a Eurofighter Typhoon. Once the tests in Cornwall are complete it is planned to take the Bloodhound SSC car to South Africa where it is hoped it will break the current land speed record of 763mph or 1228km/h. Although the Bloodhound SSC is a private venture it has substantial in-kind support from the UK government and is being used as a education resource with the hope that it will encourage more pupils to follow science and technology-related courses.
