Leaving Gdynia (Poland) for its 1st war operation, on May 18, 1941, the "Bismarck" would be sunk in the Atlantic by fire from British planes and ships, on May 27 of the following year, after having destroyed the British battle cruiser "HMS Hood", on May 24.
