Magnification of Human Genes
(Original Caption) Ann Arbor, Michigan: Two University of Michigan medical researchers report 10/5 they have achieved a scientific milestone by isolating, viewing and photographing single human genes. Two strands of recombinant DNA, each one-half "loop," or swelled portion, representing a single human gene. The photographs were taken with an electron microscope by University of Michigan assistant professor of microbiology David Jackson. U-M pediatricians Roy Schmickel, M.D. and Golder Wilson, M.D., isolated the human genes.
