Asian Elephants In Xishuangbanna

XISHUANGBANNA, CHINA - MAY 06: Wild elephants go through a crop filed on May 6, 2019 in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province of China. These wild elephants are Asian elephants, which were listed as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Asian elephants have been witnessed to appear frequently at Meng'a Town in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture since 2014 and they fed on sugar canes, corns and rice cultivated by local people. The local Forest and Grassland Council dispatched some villagers to keep watch on these Asian elephants using telescopes and drones for fear that they may destroy houses and attack villagers and livestock.
