"The Yanks Are Coming" Cartoon
A World War II era political cartoon postcard, dated 1942, depicting Japanese Admiral Yamamoto fleeing from incoming American forces. Yamamoto was responsible for planning the Attack on Pearl Harbor and most other major operations in the Pacific until he was killed by air force bombers in April 1943 while inspecting the Northern Solomon Islands. There was a great amount of satirical anti-Japanese items produced for the home front, this card being among the most graphic. (Photo by David J. & Janice L. Frent/Corbis via Getty Images)
