The Apollo-Soyuz Test Project (ASTP) was the first international docking of the U.S. Apollo spacecraft and the U.S.S.R. Soyuz spacecraft in space. The objective of the ASTP mission was to provide the basis for a standardized international system for docking of manned spacecraft.
