Dedicated Palestinian dentist provides healthcare in Gaza amid Israeli attacks

DEIR AL-BALAH, GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - RECENT JUNE, 2024: Amid relentless attacks by the Israeli army on the besieged Gaza Strip, dentist Mohamed al-Baradei has taken on the role of providing essential healthcare services to displaced Palestinians. Dr. Al-Baradei, a displaced individual himself, has been actively engaged in offering oral health services amidst the dire conditions prevailing in Gaza. Dr. Al-Baradei, who travels through the tents in Deir al-Balah, located in the central part of Gaza, conducts thorough oral health check-ups for women, children, and elderly individuals. Speaking to Anadol, he expressed his profound motivation for extending his professional expertise to address the prevalent dental pain and oral diseases exacerbated by the ongoing conflict. "I felt a calling to assist these people," Dr. Baradei remarked. "The situation here demands urgent attention as individuals suffer without adequate dental care due to the impacts of war, aggression, and ongoing atrocities." The Palestinian dentist emphasized his commitment to serving vulnerable groups, including children, women, and the elderly, who are disproportionately affected by oral health issues in times of crisis. He described heartening interactions with patients, noting the palpable relief he brings by alleviating severe dental pain and restoring smiles through medical consultations and necessary treatments.
