Dalai Lama (Tibetan spiritual leader in exile) speech (extracts below) SOT
- I always stress I'm not a special person, just a human being
- Can you make a distinction...unfortunately no third eye. if I had third eye, then I'm special
- We're all human beings, the potential for good things there
- My training...my mother, very very kind mother
- I grew up with full affection from my mother, I grew up in full training
- I listen and then read different magazines, news
- It always confirmed me, ultimate source of calm mind, happines is within ourselves
- Powerful people facing lots of problems - money, power fail to bring inner peace
- Poor person, material field is poor - But mental
-Scientific evidence shows calm mind is very helpful for good health
- Any family with full of affection, very happy
- The family rich and powerful may have distrust, jealousy...will not be happy
- Too much emphasis money economy
- People from childhood are brainwashed of money as the ultimate source of happiness - We must pay more attention to our inner value for a healthier and happier life
- I'm Buddhist and try to promote religious harmony
- Very happy and great honor
- Because of my contribution and closer understanding So when I received Nobel Piece Prize and reached New Delhi
- People asked 'how will you use the money?' (laughing)
- I have no family....- At that time, I already decided some portion to an Indian organization that helps the handicapped people
- Impressed in my mind, give them new spirit as a human being
- Then I built the foundation - I thought how to divide this money
- I appreciate you choosing me for the award
- I feel clear recognition in my activites
