False Clown fish Anemonefish (Amphiprion ocellaris) on coral reef, Thailand - stock video

Coral reefs are the one of earths most complex ecosystems, containing over 800 species of corals and one million animal and plant species. Here we see a shallow coral reef consisting of a Magnificent Anemone (Heteractis magnifica). It contains False Clown fish Anemonefish (Amphiprion ocellaris). The fish cleans parasites off the Anemone and in return uses its stinging polyps as protection from predators. A perfect demonstration of a symbiotic relationship. This is a typical display of animal behaviour that helps ensure the safety and survival of both species. Footage obtained at Bida Nok, Phi Phi islands, Krabi province, Thailand. Sony mirrorless camera, with underwater housing and dual Scubalamp V6K lighting used.
