Senator Crapo calls GAO findings in Obamacare tax credits fraud shocking as 18 out of 20 fake applicants received subsidy

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Mike Crapo says as the Senate considered dueling health care proposals following on the 43 day shutdown that they looked into the fraud surrounding the Obamacare tax credits and the findings of the GAO were shocking, as the GAO created fake identities and attempted to enroll them in Obamacare plans and all four of their fake applicants in 2024 received a subsidy, and this year 18 out of 20 fake applicants received the subsidy, and GAO also found tens of thousands of cases of apparent identity theft and hundreds of thousands of cases where insurers or brokers changed people's plans or enrolled them in new ones without their consent.
