Senator McConnell says Trump pardoning himself academic talk

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky is asked at a weekly briefing whether President Donald Trump has the power to pardon himself, McConnell offering no comment. Asked about a tweet by Trump that he would not have nominated Jeff Sessions as attorney general whether another could be confirmed, that Trump does not need advice on parting himself which would not be something he would or should do but rather had an academic discussion but as a former colleague of sessions, McConnell said he was popular with members and should remain on the job.
