Egypt’s Dahshur Pyramids captured by drone

DAHSHUR, EGYPT - AUGUST 27, 2025: The Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid in Dahshur, among Egypt’s earliest and best-preserved pyramids, continue to draw worldwide attention with a history spanning roughly 4,600 years. Located about 40 kilometers south of Cairo, Dahshur is an ancient royal necropolis and home to these pioneering structures that reflect Egypt’s early architectural experimentation. Commissioned by Pharaoh Snefru founder of the Fourth Dynasty, in the 26th century BC, the pyramids are regarded as groundbreaking monuments of the period. The Bent Pyramid is notable for its unusual change in slope partway up, reflecting the engineering challenges and trial-and-error approach of the era. Nearby, the Red Pyramid, named for the reddish limestone used in its construction, stands as the first fully completed “true” pyramid, marking a milestone in the evolution of monumental design in ancient Egypt.
