Gazans converge on Israel border amid ongoing rallies

GAZA CITY, GAZA - APRIL 13: Thousands of Palestinians converged along the Gaza Strip's eastern border with Israel for the third Friday of ongoing protests against Israel’s decades-long occupation on April 13, 2018. Palestinians set fire on Israeli flags during a protest.Protesters waved Palestinian flags -- and others set fire to Israeli ones -- while chanting pro-resistance slogans along the border fence.The rallies began on Mar. 30, when tens of thousands of Palestinians gathered at different points along the border to demand that they be allowed to return to their homes in historical Palestine.Another Palestinian was martyred on Friday raising the death toll to 35, during mass demonstrations against the decades-long Israeli occupation in Gaza Strip, an official said.Ashraf al-Qidra, the spokesman of Palestinian Health Ministry, confirmed Islam Hazarallah, 28, was martyred during an attack by Israeli forces.So far, 701 people have been injured during the demonstrations at the Gaza border as Israeli forces use teargas and fire live bullets.The rallies are part of a six-week demonstration that will culminate on May 15. That day will mark the 70th anniversary of Israel's establishment -- an event Palestinians refer to as the "Nakba" or "Catastrophe".
