Unseen William Hodson says "and now Clyde tell us about yourself", MS young man says "well I'm from South Dakota and my home's in Rapid City a very small town and I've got a girlfriend there and the reason I'm in this large city is because she turned me down because I didn't have a job to show her a good time and she turned to someone that could and that's why I'm in the large city New York to look for work and forget my troubles"/ MS black man says "I'm from Cincinnati Ohio and when I was there I couldn't get a job I lived with my Auntie the money that she would give me I play horse races trying to win but every time I would play one I would pick the wrong horse so I left out from Cincinnati headed for the city of New York and so now I'm here but seem can't get a job"/ unseen Hodson says "and now Charlie will you tell us where you came from and how you got here and what your purpose was in coming" , MS man replies "well I came from Louisville Kentucky came on a freight train and for adventure" unseen Hodson says "adventure, most everybody that I know of that comes here is looking for a job", man replies "well I'm different"/ WS Hodson, Relief Commissioner says "good morning boys" to group of young men standing next to him, the boys reply 'good morning'/ MS Hodson continues "I'm very glad to see you here I understand that most of you have come to New York from other places one of the very unfortunate things in connection with the depression is the fact that so many people have left their homes to look for jobs in other places, my advice to all everywhere is not to come to New York there aren't enough jobs here to go around and it is very much better for all to remain in their own homes with their own friends and with those who can help them in their times of trouble and distress" / Note: exact month/day not known
