Launch of misinformed 'Ripper' police publicity campaign, UK; 1979
Views showing a police press conference launching a new, misinformed, publicity campaign that was to highlight false lead letters and audio tapes (sometimes known as the "I'm Jack" tapes) sent by 'Wearside Jack', later found to be the hoaxer John Humble, in relation to to the serial killings perpetrated on women by the 'Yorkshire Ripper', who was later found to be the murderer Peter Sutcliffe - boards read, 'WEST YORKSHIRE METROPOLITAN POLICE - FLUSH OUT THE 'RIPPER', 'WITH A PRICE... AND TWELVE MURDERS BEHIND HIM - WHO IS HE?
