Senator Warner Opposes Price for Health and Human Services Secretary

Virginia Senator Mark Warner opposes the nomination of Georgia Congressman Tom Price to be Health and Human Services Secretary, in part because nationwide the affordable care act lowered the percentage of uninsured by eight points in rural communities that often struggled without hospitals. Warner reads a letter from rural constituents, stating that close to the third of the workforce is already in some level of nontraditional work who would lose that flexibility to move from job to job, that Price plans to block grant Medicaid, that Price called State Children’s Health Insurance Program government-run socialized medicine, that Price has no replacement plan for the health care law, and that he believes that the forewarnings about what would happen are all coming to pass.
