Yaeyama yellow pond turtle - stock video

This species of turtle inhabits the Yaeyama Islands of Japan, of which Iri-omote, where this footage was taken, forms a part. It is found in the likes of shallow, silty wetlands with gentle currents, ponds and marshes. It is omnivorous with a varied diet that includes fish, tadpoles, insects, worms, small crustaceans, aquatic plants, leaves and berries of terrestrial plants, and algae.
